The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions. The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute known as “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are. If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3 The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro).
